Johny Depp is set to take the stand AGAIN today in a blockbuster climax to his $50 million defamation suit with ex-wife Amber Heard. The trial is taking place in Fairfax County, Va. Depp sued Heard over an op-ed she wrote in The Washington Post in 2018 about being a survivor of domestic violence.
Entering its marathon seventh and final week, the movie star – who last took the stand two weeks ago – is expected to be called again today for cross-examination as a rebuttal witness by Heard’s lawyers.
Heard took to the stand last week to be cross-examined by Depp’s astonishing lawyer Camille Vasquez, who stole the show while attacking Heard’s credibility.
Depp is expected to be the third witness to speak today, as well as an anatomy expert and an IPV expert during the last week of the trial, which began on April 11.
Closing arguments for the trial will be heard this Friday, after long seven weeks of allegations of drug abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse and death threats.
Civil attorney Katherine Lizardo stated : ‘There is a risk that he is going to have more time being likable on the stand, when it’s actually Amber Heard’s time to present her case.’
She also said that Johny Depp had a ‘very unique personality,’ and appeared genuine and smiled often, potentially making him appealing to the jury.
Public opinion appears to be weighing far more heavily in favor of Depp than Heard. On TikTok, as of Monday morning, #IStandWithAmberHeard has garnered about 8.2 million views, while #JusticeForJohnnyDepp has earned about 15 billion views.
Depp, has said multiple times under oath that he has never struck Heard or any woman, has testified that his “goal is the truth” as he seeks to clear his name in the trial, which is being televised live via various outlets
